BlytheCon UK 2013

It's been a long time since I wrote here, but September-October are some of my busiest months in the year, with BlytheCon UK in between.

This year's BlytheCon UK was different and in many ways better. Because of the unfair BlytheCon NY competition (unusually scheduled in October - a week later), it was smaller than the previous years. Smaller means less people, less sales, but better for meeting people and hanging out. And it definitely was! Nevertheless, by comparison, my sales were better and I was happy the whole time! Having a band playing on the venue had something to do with most people being happy and in a good mood. Great idea, Scottish girls!

The Lighthouse, the venue, was an airy room in an L shape, full of natural light and with a great view of Glasgow. Although this time I was alone at my stall, I didn't miss any events, except for the workshops, which were being held in a separate room on another floor. For my stall I built the "Scarface Couch" (see the tutorial), a round red velvet couch, much like those at the Al Pacino's Scarface film's hotel lounge. I sat Strawberry, wearing an exclusive version of The Tartan Wraps - my BCUK 2013 collection - and Marie, wearing a Vivienne Westwood heart jacket and matching outfit, all handmade by me, including the customised Rocking Horse shoes. I used the Red Carpet poles I made for last year's BCUK and took a vintage tartan beauty case, originally belonged to my mom, which I used as a kid whenever I travelled, to put the merchandise in. It's now a dolly carrier. The thistle brass medallion used to hang on a tartan purse that also belonged to my mom. I thought it was fitting for a BlytheCon in Glasgow.

The 2013 BCUK collection were the said The Tartan Wraps, a wrap tartan skirt, contrasting knitted shawl and tartan hair clip set, and the Not Going Commando! panties. I still had some Fuzzy jackets and capes from last year, some Candy Candy dresses, knitted sweaters, fascinators and VOGUE Blythe. All of those you can find now at my Etsy store. My set ended up becoming a Blythe lounge, being visited by some Blythe friends through the day. I'm glad Strawberry and Marie also had their bit of dolly fun! It was also fun to meet again old BCUK friends live and new ones like Des Belles Poupées' Manon. We played Doctor Who during BlytheCon UK! I sadly missed some of the English girls, that regularly attend BCUK.

My Fashion Competition "The Best of Tartan" entry won Runner Up and I won a Raffle prize! The Fashion Competition entry consisted of a long tartan vest, based on one I made for myself years ago, a red bikini top, black leather miniskirt with a golden belt, a red furry Sporran (love it!) and red tartan leggings. Stylish and modern. I actually won a Tangkou doll on the raffle, but I really don't like them (besides I didn't have the luggage space), so I traded her for a BCUK mug cup. At the end of the day there was tea, coffee, home baked shortbread and Scottish Taiblet. In the goodie bag there was also a small bottle of Irn Bru and a Teacake. YUM!

The After Party was held at Jury's Inn, the place where I stayed during BCUK, and included deep fried haggis canapés. I tried it for the first time, it wasn't bad but also not my favourite food. Please check my BCUK 2013 Flickr gallery for the stall and venue photos.

BlytheCon UK 2013

Já não escrevo aqui há muito, mas Setembro-Outubro são uns dos meses mais atarefados do ano para mim, com a BlytheCon UK pelo meio.

A BlytheCon UK foi diferente e em muitas coisas melhor. Por causa da concorrência injusta com a BlytheCon NY (marcada invulgarmente para Outubro - uma semana depois), foi mais pequena que nos anos anteriores. Mais pequena significa menos pessoas, menos vendas, mas melhor para conhecer pessoas e conviver. E definitivamente foi! Mesmo assim, por comparação, tive melhores vendas e estive sempre contente! Ter uma banda a tocar no local ajudou a que todos ficassem contentes e houvesse bom ambiente. Excelente ideia, meninas escocesas!

The Lighthouse, o local, era um salão arejado em forma de L, cheio de luz natural e com uma bela vista de  Glasgow. Apesar desta vez estar sozinha na banca, não perdi nenhum evento, excepto os workshops, que foram dados noutra sala noutro piso. Para a minha banca construí o "Scarface Couch" (ver o tutorial), um sofá redondo em veludo vermelho, parecido com os da entrada do hotel no filme Scarface com Al Pacino. Sentei a  Strawberry, vestindo um conjunto exclusivo dos The Tartan Wraps - a minha colecção para a BCUK 2013 - e a Marie, vestindo um casaco coração de Vivienne Westwood e peças a condizer, tudo feito por mim, incluindo os sapatos Rocking Horse. Usei os postes da Passadeira Vermelha do ano passado no fundo e levei um necessaire em tartan vintage, originalmente da minha mãe, que usava nas minhas viagens quando era miúda, para colocar os artigos para venda. Agora uso-o como mala para levar as bonecas. O medalhão em latão com o cardo pertencia a uma mala antiga da minha mãe, que achei adequado para uma BlytheCon em Glasgow.

A colecção para a BCUK 2013 foram os mencionados conjuntos The Tartan Wraps, uma saia cruzada em tartan, um cachecol em tricot contrastante e um gancho de cabelo em tartan, e as cuecas Not Going Commando!. Ainda tinha uns casacos e capas Fuzzy, uns vestidos Candy Candy, camisolas em tricot, fascinators e VOGUE Blythe. Todos estão disponíveis na minha loja no Etsy. O meu cenário acabou por tornar-se numa sala de visitas, recebendo muitas amigas Blythe ao longo do dia. Fiquei contente por a Strawberry e a Marie também poderem divertir-se! Também foi bom rever velhas amigas da BCUK ao vivo e ver novas, como a Manon da Des Belles Poupées. Brincámos ao Doctor Who durante a BlytheCon UK! Fiquei triste por não rever algumas das moças inglesas que costumam estar na BCUK.

O conjunto com que concorri ao Concurso de Moda "The Best of Tartan" ganhou o 2º lugar e também ganhei um prémio na rifa! O conjunto para o Concurso de Moda tinha um colete comprido em tartan, baseado num que fiz para mim há anos, um top de biquini vermelho, uma mini saia em pele preta com um cinto dourado, um Sporran em pêlo vermelho (adoro-o!) e leggings em tartan vermelho. Moderna e com estilo. Na realidade ganhei uma boneca Tangkou na rifa, mas não gosto das bonecas (para além disso não tinha espaço na bagagem), portanto troquei-a por uma caneca da BCUK. Ao fim do dia havia chá, café, shorbread e Scottish Taiblet caseiros. No saco de brinde também havia uma garrafinha de Irn Bru e um Teacake. YUM!

A After Party foi no Jury's Inn, onde fiquei durante a BCUK, e incluía croquetes de haggis. Foi a primeira vez que experimentei, não era mau, mas também não é o meu prato preferido. Vejam a minha Galeria da BCUK 2013 no Flickr com fotos das bancas e do local.

Mini Lalaloopsy Arrivals

Hi~ it's been a long time since I wrote on this blog. Not much new in my doll world, right after being in Activa magazine, I took my Blythe girls and the TARDIS to an afternoon TV show, but I was a bit self conscious to talk about it here. Now I'm just making some clothes for my Blythes, Oriana turned out a mori-girl and Yuuko has several elaborate dresses in the making, and a new collection for BlytheCon UK 2013 (in Glasgow).

This month two new Mini Lalaloopsies arrived here, Tippy Tumbelina, a ballerina with the cutest little swan friend, and Coral Seashells, my most sought after Mini Lalaloopsy, which I ended up ordering online because she didn't arrive at local stores.

 Aren't they the cutest? I love Mini Lalaloopsies and now the family has 4 members, Crumbs Sugar Cookie, Bea Spells-a-Lot, Tippy Tumbelina and Coral Seashells. Still craving Dot Starlight, but she's easier to find than Coral Seashells.

Chegadas Mini Lalaloopsy

Olá~ há muito que não escrevo neste blog. Pouca coisa nova no meu mundo das bonecas, logo a seguir a sair na revista Activa levei as minhas moças Blythe e a TARDIS ao Boa Tarde na SIC, mas estava pouco à vontade para falar nisso aqui. Agora ando a fazer roupas para as minhas Blythes, a Oriana revelou ser uma mori-girl e a Yuuko tem vários vestidos elaborados na forja, e ainda a nova colecção para a BlytheCon UK 2013 (em Glasgow).

Este mês chegaram duas novas Mini Lalaloopsy, a Tippy Tumbelina, uma bailarina com um amiguinho cisne amoroso, e a Coral Seashells, a Mini Lalaloopsy que mais cobiçava e que acabei por encomendar online, pois não a encontrei nas lojas locais.

Vou tentar fazer uma actualização antes de embarcar na minha aventura em Glasgow. Até lá~

Fashion Magazine & Giveaway

Activa magazine - February 2013

I've been dealing with lots of stuff except Blythes or toys lately, hence the lack of updates to this blog. Buuuuut, I couldn't miss showing this article on Blythe dolls at Portuguese fashion and ladies magazine Activa. Me and some friends were interviewed for the magazine, showing our point of view to Blythe collecting and playing. Everyone has a very specific point of view which resulted in an interesting article, not your usual "weird hobby" stuff.

Although I took Strawberry, Camila, Marie and Tommy, only Tommy and Camila were featured. But this is partly my fault, as I was too lazy to take Strawberry out of her Christmas outfit. Marie was wearing her 'Widows of Culloden' Alexander McQueen, but she got cut off, not that she minds it much.

I gave the reporter some of the BlytheCon UK postcards designed by me, and, as you can see, it got a highlight on the article.

Meanwhile I've opened an Etsy store and there's a 200 Fans Giveaway on my Facebook page. Revista de Moda & Giveaway

Revista Activa - Fevereiro de 2013

Ultimamente tenho andado a tratar de tudo menos Blythes ou brinquedos, daí a ausência de actualizações neste blog. Maaaaas, não podia deixar de mostrar este artigo acerca das bonecas Blythe na revista feminina e de moda Activa. Eu e algumas amigas fomos entrevistadas para a revista, mostrando o nosso ponto de vista acerca do coleccionismo e brincar com elas. Todas temos um ponto de vista específico, que resulta num artigo interessante, não o habitual artigo acerca de "passatempos esquisitos".

Apesar de eu ter levado a Strawberry, a Camila, a Marie e a Tommy, só a Tommy e a Camila apareceram. Isto é parte culpa minha, pois tive demasiada preguiça para tirar o fato natalício a Strawberry. A Marie vestia o seu vestido Widows of Culloden de Alexander McQueen, mas foi cortada, não que lhe importe muito.

Dei à jornalista alguns postais da BlytheCon UK desenhados por mim e, como se pode ver, teve direito a um destaque no artigo.

Entretanto abri uma lojinha no Etsy e há um Giveaway dos 200 Fans na minha página do Facebook. Happy 4th, Strawberry

Today is Strawberry's 4th B-day here at the doll's place. HAPPY B-DAY, STRAWBERRY!!

Strawberry Fields was my first Blythe, is the one I almost always carry everywhere, although the family has grown by 5 elements since. She's my most travelled Blythe, having travelled to 2 different countries and 4 different cities since she arrived. As you can see by the photo, Strawberry is a whovian and was really happy to recieve a Dalek t-shirt from aunt Pip from Scotland. She's posing with her (tamed) Dalek and K-9 in front of the TARDIS. It's been long since she travelled in it!

I think she'll continue to inspire me and we'll have many more adventures together and with the other girls too!

Feliz 4º, Strawberry

Hoje é o 4º B-day da Strawberry cá no lugar das bonecas. FELIZ B-DAY, STRAWBERRY!!

A Strawberry Fields foi a minha primeira Blythe, é a que levo quase sempre comigo para todo o lado, apesar de a família ter aumentado em 5 elementos desde então. Ela é a minha Blythe mais viajada, já foi a 2 países e 4 cidades diferentes desde que chegou. Como se pode ver na foto, a Strawberry é uma whovian e ficou muito feliz por receber uma t-shirt com Daleks da tia Pip da Escócia. Ela posa com o seu Dalek (domesticado) e o K-9 em frente da TARDIS. Há muito que ela não viaja nela!

Acho que ela irá continuar a inspirar-me e teremos muitas mais aventuras juntas e com as outras moças também!

BlytheCon UK 2012 + Etsy

Leo COUTURE at BlytheCon UK 2012

As the lack of posts reveals, I've been really busy which doesn't leave much time for blogging. I've also been trying to be a bit away from the computer, except for work or really important issues. I have a lot of stuff that has been postponed for too long and now my life is beginning to depend on it.

Before BlytheCon UK I was really busy sewing like a madwoman to have stock for the stall, then after BCUK I stayed a few days in the UK and visited Yorkshire, which I loved. As I came back home I was immediately snatched by work and since that job finished I've been trying to put my real life in order.

BlytheCon UK 2012 was a blast and it keeps getting better! The Double Tree hotel, where the con was held, is an amazing hotel and the staff were incredible helping with the organization. Having a stall provides a completely different experience and you get to know people in a different way. It was also lovely to meet all my British (and not just British) online friends again and make new ones. There were two other Portuguese attending, Xanamaneca, whi shared a stall with me, and Blythiful, the editor of the magazine with the same name. This year there were a lot of new Blythe-people which made it an all new BCUK, filled with new faces. Thank you everyone who passed by my stall and said hi!

Didn't buy much, some buckles at Retro Dolls, a necklace at The Cat's Meow and some hair clips at Arrietty's Armoire. Since then I finally opened my Etsy, where the Fuzzy Collection and the BCUK's Paper Doll are already listed. Expect more in December, the remaining BCUK goods and more!

As other great news, BlytheCon UK 2013's logo and illustration are also drawn by me, so meet the Lassie Blythe!

Piparrot and Fifilatrixabel, both organizers, are wonderful and fun girls and I'm really excited about Glasgow!

Leo COUTURE na BlytheCon UK 2012

Como a falta de posts o revela, tenho andado muito ocupada, o que não me deixa muito tempo para blogar. Também tenho andado a tentar estar longe do computador, excepto para trabalho ou assuntos mesmo importantes. Tenho imensa coisa que tem sido adiada há demasiado tempo e a minha vida começa aestar dependente disso.

Antes da BlytheCon UK estive muito ocupada a costurar como uma louca, a fazer stock para a banca, depois da BCUK fiquei uns dias no Reino Unido e fui ao Yorkshire, que adorei. Assim que voltei fui raptada pelo trabalho e desde que esse trabalho terminou tenho andado a tentar organizar a minha vida.

A BlytheCon UK 2012 foi bestial e melhora a cada ano! O hotel Double Tree, onde foi a con, é fantástico e os funcionários foram incríveis a ajudar na organização. Ter uma banca faz com que a experiência seja completamente diferente e conhece-se as pessoas de modo diferente. Foi maravilhoso voltar a encontrar os meus amigos britânicos (e não só) da internet e fazer novos amigos. Havia mais duas portuguesas, a Xanamaneca, que partilhou a banca comigo e a Blythiful, editora da revista com o mesmo nome. Este ano havia muita gente-Blythe nova, que renovou a BCUK, cheia de caras novas. Obrigada a todos os que passaram pela minha banca!

Não comprei muita coisa, umas fivelas na Retro Dolls, um colar na The Cat's Meow e uns ganchos na Arrietty's Armoire. Desde então finalmente abri a minha loja na Etsy, onde já estão a Fuzzy Collection e a Boneca de Papel da BCUK. Haverá mais em Dezembro, a restante mercadoria da BCUK e mais!

Outra boa notícia é que a ilustração e logótipo da BlytheCon UK 2013 também são desenhados por mim, conheçam a Lassie Blythe!

A Piparrot e a Fifilatrixabel, as organizadoras, são moças fantásticas e divertidas, estou muito entusiasmada com Glasgow!
