Packing for BlytheCon UK 2011

Finally I'm packing for BlytheCon UK! The girls are all dressed and packed for the trip, I'm taking Strawberry and Marie this year. Camila went last year and I must limit myself to two dolls, because more will be neglected and too much to carry around on the day. I'm so excited! It's less than a week away, and if it weren't for a bit of a lodging problem, everything would be perfect! I'm anxious to meet my international Blythe-friends again, meet others live for the first time (as my very first client), and get to know new ones too! This time I'm arriving a day early, so I can rest/sleep before BlytheCon UK! I'll also be able to attend the pub night and of course the after party!

Fazendo as malas para a BlytheCon UK 2011

Finalmente estou a fazer as malas para a BlytheCon UK! As moças já têm as malas feitas e estão vestidas para a viagem, este ano levo a Strawberry e a Marie. A Camila foi no ano passado e tenho de me limitar a duas bonecas, pois se levar mais será desprezada e demasiado para andar a carregar durante o evento. Estou tão excitada! Já falta menos de uma semana e se não fosse um pequeno precalço com o alojamento, tudo seria perfeito! Estou ansiosa por reencontrar os meus Blythe-amigos internacionais, conhecer outros ao vivo (tal como o meu primeiro cliente), e também conhecer novos amigos! Desta vez chego um dia mais cedo, portanto vou poder descansar/dormir antes da BlytheCon UK! Também vou poder ir na véspera ao pub e naturalmente à after party!

No Stop Through the Wishlist

Aaaah! The feeling of a new Blythe! She's SO GORGEOUS! I'm drooling for hours, now! For over one year I've been obsessing over a Kiss Me True. The silver hair, the yellow eyes, she was supposed to enter the wishlist, but some stuff turned out well and here she is! Although she's a CWC exclusive, and an exotic girl, she ended up becoming the cheapest of my Blythe doll buys (all expenses covered)! So I guess, I feel less guilty for buying another Blythe.

Kiss Me True has several differences from my simpler Prima Dollies. The eye chips are all special colours, yellow, turquoise blue, lilac and apple green. She has earrings (of which I've already made several pairs). She has painted nails and her lips are pearly and a bit darker than they seem in photos. Her skin is also a little bit darker than Strawberry's, so I'm glad, that they all have different hair, skin and make-up. Oh yes, her underpants are black satin and for the first time I really like her stock clothes. And her hair is gorgeous! Really full and very good quality! Thank you Takara, you haven't disappointed this time!

Well, let me introduce her:
Today, September 1st, 2011, Marie A. Pamplemousse arrived at the Dolls Place. She is a mysterious girl, she has a French name but there are suspicions that she's Austrian. Nobody knows what the A. in her middle name stands for either, or even if this is her real name. She speaks several languages perfectly, so there's no way to tell accurately. Maybe she's a spy? I don't know.

All I know is that she's a very elegant and fashionable girl, her favourite colour is black but she likes a splash of colour. Her favourite designers are Yohji Yamamoto, Comme Des Garçons, by Rei Kawakubo, Junya Watanabe and... PRADA! Yes, she loves extravagant high-fashion and fascinators! So don't expect her to wear just anything... Intellectually I think she's going to hang out more with Strawberry, but she can have long chitchats with Camila about the fashion world, that she clearly knows from the inside out. She's also very art inclined, especially modern art. I guess its the Andy Warhol hair...

Aaaah! A sensação de uma Blythe nova! Ela é tão FABULOSA! Estou a babar-me há horas! Há mais de um ano que ando a obcecar por uma Kiss Me True. O cabelo prateado, os olhos amarelos, era suposto ela entrar para a lista de desejos, mas umas coisas correram bem e cá está ela! Apesar de ser um modelo exclusivo CWC, e uma miúda exótica, ela acabou por vir a ser a minha compra em Blythes mais barata até hoje (com todas as despesas incluídas)! Portanto, acho que me sinto menos culpada por comprar mais uma Blythe.

A Kiss Me True tem bastantes diferenças das minhas Prima Dollies mais simples. O chips dos olhos são todos em cores especiais, amarelo, azul turqueza, liás e verde maçã. Ela tem brincos (de que já fiz vários pares). Tem as unhas pintadas e os lábios são perlados e mais escuros do que aparentam nas fotografias. A pele também é um pouco mais escura que a da Strawberry, portanto estou contente que todas têm cabelo, pele e maquilhagem diferentes. Oh sim, as cuecas são em cetim preto e pela primeira vez gosto mesmo das roupas que ela traz. E o cabelo é fabuloso! Muito encorpado e de muito boa qualidade! Obrigada Takara, desta vez não desapontaste!

Bom, deixem-me apresentá-la:
Hoje, dia 1 de Setembro de 2011, a Marie A. Pamplemousse chegou ao Lugar das Bonecas. Ela é uma rapariga misteriosa, tem um nome francês mas suspeita-se que é austríaca. Ninguém sabe também o que o A. no seu nome significa, ou mesmo se este é o seu nome verdadeiro. Ela fala perfeitamente várias línguas, portanto não há meio de o saber concretamente. Talvez seja uma espia? Eu não sei.

Só sei é que ela é uma rapariga muito elegante e ligada à moda, a sua cor preferida é o preto, mas gosta de apontamentos de cor. Também tem muito interesse pelas artes, arte moderna em particular. Acho que é do cabelo à Andy Warhol...

The 8 Anxiety Steps to Buy a Blythe Online

It has been some time since I could afford a new Blythe doll, and I don't crave every single model (I'm not much into blondes, for example) and Camila arrived 2 years ago already... But fortunately now it's the time for a new one, and here are the 8 Anxiety Steps:

1. CHOOSE THE BLYTHE

That one is easy, I've been obsessing with Kiss Me True since she was launched in May 2010. Anxiety level: 3

2. FIND THE BLYTHE AT A GOOD PRICE
That's usually a hard task, but, what can I say, I'm lucky! Kiss Me True, because she is a CWC Exclusive, should be a rare doll and by this time, one year later, virtually unaffordable for me, but... I didn't even had to search much. I looked in Junie Moon (always the 1st place where I look), and no Kiss Me True, a few eBay sellers, dolls, available, prices, OK. Mandarake, one doll, nice price (+shipping). But C.C.Toys had one on SALE! Yeah, that's where I bought her. Anxiety level: 1

3. ORDER THE BLYTHE

This should be the easiest step but is probably the most emotional one (except for the last). Yes, pressing that "add to cart" button requires some energy and emotion! Button pressed, address and credit card details filled, Blythe ORDERED! Anxiety level: 4

4. WAITING FOR THE PURCHASE CONFIRMATION EMAIL
That usually follows your purchase right away, and so it did. And no one likes to see their money go away, even if it's for a good cause. Anxiety level: 0

5. WAITING FOR THE SHIPPING CONFIRMATION EMAIL
Checking your email several times a day. 4 days after purchasing, the doll is posted! Anxiety level: 4

6. WAITING FOR THE BLYTHE TO ARRIVE
Now it's time to check the tracking number at the post websites at least once a day: 2 days after she's posted, she leaves Hong Kong;  ONLY 2 DAYS, until she arrived at my door! But... silly postman, didn't ring my bell and she had to spend one night at the post office. Anxiety level: 2

7. HOPING THAT THE BLYTHE DOESN'T GO THROUGH CUSTOMS
It didn't!! Anxiety level: 0

8. GETTING THE BLYTHE!

The biggest joy, the biggest anxiety. I usually go to the post office jumping around like a small kid. Anxiety level: 5

Já lá vai algum tempo desde que pude dar-me ao luxo de comprar mais uma Blythe nova, e não fico a babar por todo o modelo novo que sai (por exemplo, não sou muito fã de loiras) e a Camila já cá chegou há 2 anos... Mas felizmente agora é o momento para uma nova e aqui estão os 8 Passos de Ansiedade:

1. ESCOLHER A BLYTHE

Essa parte é fácil, tenho andado a obcecar com a Kiss Me True desde que foi lançada em Maio de 2010. Nível de ansiedade: 3

2. ENCONTRAR A BLYTHE POR UM BOM PREÇO
Esta costuma ser uma tarefa difícil, mas, o que posso dizer, sou sortuda! A Kiss Me True, por ser um modelo Exclusivo CWC, deveria ser uma boneca rara e por estas alturas, um ano depois, virtualmente inacessível para mim, mas... Nem sequer tive de procurar muito. Fui ver à Junie Moon (é sempre o primeiro sítio onde verifico), e nada de Kiss Me True, alguns vendedores no eBay: bonecas, disponibilidade, preços, OK. Na Mandarake, uma boneca, bom preço (+portes). Mas na C.C.Toys elas estavam em SALDOS! Ora, foi onde a comprei. Nível de ansiedade: 1

3. ENCOMENDAR A BLYTHE

Este deveria ser o passo mais fácil mas talvez seja o mais emotivo (excepto o último). Sim, carregar naquele botão "add to cart" requer alguma energia e emoção! Botão carregado, morada e dados de cartão de crédito preenchidos, Blythe ENCOMENDADA! Nível de ansiedade: 4

4. ESPERAR PELO EMAIL DE CONFIRMAÇÃO DE VENDA
Isso normalmente segue-se imediatamente à compra, e assim foi. E ninguém gosta de ver o seu dinheiro desaparecer, mesmo que seja por uma boa causa. Nível de ansiedade: 0

5. ESPERAR PELO EMAIL DE CONFIRMAÇÃO DE EXPEDIÇÃO
Ir ver o email várias vezes ao dia. 4 dias após a compra, a boneca é expedida! Nível de ansiedade: 4

6. ESPERAR QUE A BLYTHE CHEGUE
Agora está na altura de verificar o tracking number nos sites dos correios pelo menos uma vez por dia: 2 dias depois de expedida, ela sai de Hong Kong;  APENAS 2 DIAS, até que chegue à minha porta! Mas... palerma do carteiro, não me tocou à porta e ela teve de passar uma noite nos correios. Nível de ansiedade: 2

7. ESPERANDO QUE A BLYTHE NÃO PASSE PELA ALFÂNDEGA
Não passou nem perto!! Nível de ansiedade: 0

8. IR BUSCAR A BLYTHE!

A maior das alegrias, a maior das ansiedades. Costumo dirigir-me aos correios aos pulinhos como uma criança pequena. Nível de ansiedade: 5
