Unfortunately this doll world isn't all roses and ribbons, and lately something disappointed me a lot and made me really sad. Teal, or emerald green, or sea green (as I like to call it) is one of my favourite colours and one of the reasons the Neo Blythe
Princess a la Mode is on my wishlist.
About two months ago, rumours and photos of a new Blythe release with teal colour began to spread around the internet. Her name was supposed to be
Alexis Emerald. Some time later the Blythe was officially announced and besides liking her better than PAM (I prefer the brighter make-up and wavy hair), I loved the stock clothes and the price was quite affordable. But this was when stuff began to get sour.
Suddenly a spam of factory Alexis' spread around the Flickr streams and the official photos weren't even out yet. I work as a freelancer, so my budget fluctuates. Usually the year's 1st trimester is the hardest because there's less work to be done. So I had to wait to buy the much craved doll to which I even got the perfect name. Fortunately the release date was May 18th, by then I would get paid and be able to afford a new gorgeous doll. Usually, with non limited Blythe dolls this works fine. Alexis was a TopShop Exclusive but not limited.
But then the official stores announced pre-orders for Alexis, that on the given dates evaporated quicker than alcohol. I patiently waited for May 18th to know how much she would actually cost me, but in all the official websites there was absolutely no change. The only info there is, is at Junie Moon Japan, where it states since the pre-order date that she's
sold out.
Since then, Marcos, at
Blythe Loves Me, published an answer from
Junko Wong, the creative director behind Neo Blythe, at his blog, implying there was a robbery at the factory in China and most probably all those factory Alexis were stolen.
For me, besides robbery being always a really small minded thing, the saddest is that there's no official attitude from the companies directly connected to Neo Blythe to their potential customers. With about 1450 dolls produced (or so the rumour says), a very small amount, about 200 being sold at international stores on pre-order, for a doll with such a high demand, shouldn't this be the case for a
reissue? If Miss Wong states that they're going to change factories because of the robberies, shouldn't the new factory produce a new batch of Alexis'?
The only people profiting from this mess are the lucky ones that got a factory Alexis really cheap, and the Chinese robbers, but the majority of fans, potential buyers and CWC and Takara aren't getting any profit from dolls being sold at triple their price on eBay. As much as I feel tempted to buy factory Blythes, for the originals are expensive dolls, knowing that they were stolen makes me think that this hobby got horribly dirty with these greedy attitudes.
I still hope to get one NRFB Alexis, I don't want to spend years pining over her, and I also don't want to spend a small fortune for one doll. This is a hobby, a positive thing, not a business opportunity.

Infelizmente este mundo das bonecas não são só rosas e laçarotes e ultimamente algo me deixou muito desapontada e triste. Verde esmeralda ou verde mar (como gosto de lhe chamar) é uma das minhas cores preferidas e uma das razões porque a Neo Blythe Princess a la Mode está na minha wishlist

Há cerca de dois meses começaram a aparecer pela internet rumores e fotos de um novo lançamento de uma Blythe com o cabelo verde-mar. O seu nome deveria ser Alexis Emerald. Algum tempo depois a Blythe foi anunciada oficialmente e para além de gostar mais dela do que da PAM (prefiro a maquilhagem mais viva e o cabelo ondulado), adorei as roupas de origem e o preço era bastante simpático. Mas foi aqui que as coisas começaram a azedar.
De repente espalhou-se um spam
de Alexis factory pelas galerias do Flickr e as fotos oficiais ainda nem sequer tinham saído. Trabalho como freelancer
, portanto o meu orçamento flutua. Normalmente o 1º trimestre do ano é o mais complicado, pois há menos trabalho. Então tive de esperar para comprar a boneca muito desejada, para a qual até arranjei o nome perfeito. Felizmente a data de lançamento era a 18 de Maio, nessa altura já teria recebido e poderia comprar uma nova boneca fabulosa. Normalmente, com Blythes não limitadas isto funciona lindamente. A Alexis era uma exclusiva TopShop mas não era limitada.
Foi então que as lojas oficiais anunciaram as pré-encomendas para a Alexis, que nessas datas evaporaram-se como álcool. Esperei pacientemente por dia 18 de Maio para saber quanto seria o seu preço real, mas em todos os sites oficiais não houve mudança absolutamente nenhuma. A única informação disponível está na Junie Moon Japan, onde diz desde a data da pré-encomenda que ela está esgotada.
Desde então o Marcos, do blog Blythe Loves Me, publicou uma resposta de Junko Wong, a directora criativa das Neo Blythe, dá a entender que houve um roubo na fábrica na China e muito provavelmente todas aquelas Alexis factory
eram roubadas.
Para mim, para além de achar que o roubo é uma coisa mesmo mesquinha, o mais triste é não haver nenhuma atitude oficial por parte das empresas ligadas directamente às Neo Blythe para com os seus potenciais clientes. Com cerca de 1450 bonecas produzidas (ou assim dizem os rumores), um valor baixíssimo, cerca de 200 que foram vendidas em lojas internacionais em pré-encomenda, por uma boneca com tanta procura, não seria este o caso de uma reedição? Se a Srª. Wong declarou que vão trocar de fábrica por causa dos roubos, não deveria a nova fábrica voltar a produzir mais Alexis?
As únicas pessoas que lucram com esta confusão são os sortudos que conseguiram uma Alexis factory
baratinha, e os ladrões chineses, mas a maioria dos fãs, potenciais compradores, a CWC e a Takara não estão a lucrar nada com bonecas a serem vendidas ao triplo do seu preço no eBay. Por mais que me sinta tentada em comprar Blythes factory
, pois as originais são bonecas caras, saber que são roubadas faz-me pensar que este passatempo tornou-se horrivelmente sujo com estas atitudes ganaciosas.
Ainda tenho esperança de conseguir uma Alexis NRFB
, não quero passar anos a sonhar com ela e também não quero pagar uma pequena fortuna por uma boneca. Isto é um passatempo, uma coisa positiva, não uma oportunidade de negócio.
